Please join with us during our National Week of Prayer to pray for different areas of the work of OAC GB each day.
Thursday 5th February – Good Health, Financial Support, Spiritual Protection & Growth for Evangelists & Volunteers
The work is demanding at every level. Maintaining good physical health is important for fulfilling the Great Commission.
Financial security is sometimes a concern for our evangelists. The cost of living, and inflation, have had a big effect on everyone but for those in full time ministry, living by gifts, these things can prove very tough. I remember an evangelist talking to me about this, many years ago:
“It’s like driving a car and you know the oil is low and needs topping up. As you drive along you keep checking the oil light to ensure you can make it to the end of the journey. However, if you had a gallon can in the back you could just top it up to full on the dipstick and forget it.”
All our evangelists are self-employed but do not produce a product of service for which they can charge. Rather, they use their God -given gifts to serve others. They have all the normal living costs plus they need to travel for evangelism, buy equipment, literature and resources, and attend conferences. We have two residential conferences a year and some evangelists attend other helpful events put on by churches or other evangelistic organisations.
Evangelists are working on the frontline of taking ground for The Kingdom of God. Our enemy, Satan, would love to bring our evangelists into compromising situations which would severely damage their reputation and bring the Gospel of the Lord Jesus into disrepute. Sadly, this can happen to people in ministry, and we need to be aware of the Devil’s schemes.
Please pray for good health and sustainable fitness regimes, for sufficient, and abundant financial support, for spiritual growth, maturity, wisdom and spiritual protection.
