More Than Just A Few Evangelists

A group of Evangelists at the OAC Euro Zone Conference in Romania 2023

I thought there was only one of you

I remember many years ago speaking at a church and sharing about the work of OAC.  After the service a couple who were visiting the church came up to me to let me know that they had an OAC Evangelist within their church but they thought that they were the only one!  We often say that unless you know an OAC Evangelist you won’t know that OAC exists.  Unfortunately, we’re not very good at letting people know just how big an organisation OAC is.  We’re much better at getting our heads down and getting on with evangelism than we are at letting people know just what OAC has to offer.

OAC Euro Zone Conference

I always feel privileged to be able to go to either OAC Euro Zone or OAC International conferences because it helps me to remember just how large an organisation OAC is and the amazing and incredible work that OAC Evangelists do all around the world.  A couple of weeks ago I was able to attend the OAC Euro Zone Conference in Romania.  This was the first time that we as National Directors from across Europe had been able to be together in person since before the pandemic.

There were OAC Evangelists in attendance from Albania, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Romania, Spain and Sweden.  Unfortunately, our Evangelists from Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia and Ukraine were unable to be there.  Just listing the countries is a great reminder of how much OAC work happens right across Europe.

The best part of these conferences is always hearing about the work that is going on in the different countries.  This conference was held at the OAC camp in Romania and so as well as hearing about the work that takes place in Romania we also got to see some of the work that the amazing Romanian team do.

OAC Romania

On top of the regular kids clubs and bible study groups for teens, men and women that the team lead, they also have an extensive puppet ministry in schools across Romania.  It was great to be able to see them in action and see the children so excited to be able to hear the gospel through the puppet presentation.  We were also able to have a tour of the camp.  Even though it was cold and covered in snow when we were there you were just able to imagine the camp packed as it is each summer with many children coming to enjoy a week at the camp, where there are lots of fun activities but also great Bible teaching.  Each summer 400 children will come to camps organised by the OAC Romania team and each summer they will see many of these children put their trust in Christ.

As you pray for the work of OAC, please try to remember the work of our Evangelists around the UK but also the work of our Evangelists in Europe and beyond as well.  If you would like to support the work of OAC in Romania please just contact us and we will let you know how you can do that.
