At the beginning of November we had our OAC Evangelists Conference 2023 at Hebron Hall in South Wales. As always it was a great time of fellowship and encouragement. Throughout the Conference we received great teaching to help us in our ministry as Evangelists.
Bible Teaching
Owen Cottom from Grace Church, Cardiff, led our Bible Teaching as he has for many years. This year he led us through some of the prayers of Asaph. He looked with us at “A Psalm to Get Real“, “A Psalm to Help Us Live On The Other Side of Disillusionment” and “A Psalm To Dream Again“. As always his teaching was engaging and challenging, leaving us with much to think about.
Main Speakers
Roger Carswell from the Association of Evangelists brought two sessions from Psalm 126 and 1 Corinthians 1:17-2:2. As always it was a joy to have Roger with us. His joy and his enthusiasm for evangelism is infectious and he was a great encouragement to all of us.
Dai Hankey, a church planter in Cardiff, and leader of the Red Community, a charity that combats trafficking and exploitation in Wales spoke to us about “The Secret Heart” of the Evangelist and challenged us in our prayer life speaking about “The Secret Place” as we spend time with God.
Clive Cornish from Reflect Community Church, Cardiff, challenged us as he shared his testimony and how he shares the gospel by carrying a cross as a very visual symbol of what Jesus has done for us.
The conference finished with Jonathan Reeves from Highfields Church. In his first session he challenged us to keep going to ensure that we are not Losing Heart in Ministry. He then finished the conference by reminding us that our work for the Lord is Never In Vain.
We also had a talk from our National Director, Steve Harris, on God’s Desperate Desire for Disciplined Disciples to go out into His harvest field. Finally, one of our Evangelists, Pete Hodge, shared about lessons that he has learned from 40 years of ministry, with many practical tips to help us keep running with perseverance and to ensure that we finish the race well.
As always we had our ideas sharing session which is always one of the favourite parts of the conference as it helps all of us to think more creatively about how we share the Gospel.
Recordings
Most of the talks from the conference were recorded and can be found on the new conference talks section of our website that also includes recordings of talks from our conferences in 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2021.
